Well, now we’ve reached the point where many fans have claimed the beginning of the end for SpongeBob  (until season 9). Let’s see if this is true.

Recap and Gifs

The episode starts off with SpongeBob, Squidward, and Patrick peacefully sleeping. That is until SpongeBob’s loud foghorn alarm clock wakes both himself and Squidward up. So begins the start of the end.

Squidward’s misery begins when SpongeBob barges into his room trying to make sure he doesn’t miss work. However, Squidward’s not impressed by this mainly cause of one thing …  the Krusty Krab isn’t open on Sundays!

After angrily yelling at SpongeBob for disturbing him, Squidward proceeds to kick him out and claim that a good neighbor wouldn’t bug him. I guess two more seasons have made Squidward resent the idiot brothers even after he realized that he needs them.

SpongeBob simply just assumes that Squidward’s mad because he forgot his Sunday newspaper and tries to deliver it to him. However, since SpongeBob such a weakling, he accidentally drops some and has to wrap them in a ball like form to make it easier to carry. Okay, so his strength depends on his confidence I see.

However, SpongeBob has the misfortune of bumping into Patrick who simply assumes that the newspapers that SpongeBob is carrying is a newspaper monster and soon this makes SpongeBob himself scared and they both drop the Sunday newspaper in fear. No wonder those two were called immature in the 2004 movie.

Squidward tries to just ignore them and even prepares his Sunday with a pillow for napping, flowers for good decor, and also arranges for a pedicure. Man, Squidward’s got it made. However while Squidward’s relaxing, SpongeBob and Patrick barge into his house again and start to worship him.

It turns out that they’re inducting him as the president of the Secret Order of the Good Neighbors Lodge as another way to worship him. Rather than be touched by this, Squidward tries to get rid of them by having them paint every tree leaf with red polka dots to keep them busy. Geez, Squidward could’ve easily had them as his slaves but no, he just had to be a jerk. Well, then again considering the time he pretended to be a ghost, he knows that the idiot brothers would still annoy him even as servants.

Since SpongeBob’s filled with holes, Patrick uses him to store the paint and splatter the polka dots everywhere. That even includes Squidward’s eyes. The paint ends up stinging Squidward’s eyes to the point where he accidentally runs into a couple’s car.

The couple naturally assumes he has the chicken pox since he still has the polka dots from earlier and is sent to the hospital. At least the idiot brothers can’t annoy him there.

However, SpongeBob and Patrick just assume Squidward’s going for a drive and are impressed by his way of life.

Later, SpongeBob calls a meeting of the Good Neighbor Lodge. However, it ends up being pretty boring since it’s just him and a sleeping Patrick.

SpongeBob ends up forgetting that Squidward’s going on a drive and tries to look for him. How bad is SpongeBob’s memory?

The idiot brothers start to assume that Squidward’s on a secret mission and hope he isn’t in danger.

Soon, the pedicure guy that Squidward called for shows up. Since they assume the guy’s a spy, the idiot brothers decide to stay and observe to make sure Squidward’s safe. This’ll end badly.

Squidward eventually comes back very angry which isn’t helped by him seeing the idiot brothers using his pedicure call.

Squidward’s got really bad luck this time.

Squidward tries to get in on this but it’s too late since his pedicure hour’s now up. Well, his luck’s really bad. Must be from his bragging last episode.

Squidward proceeds to kick the idiot brothers out in anger. You’d think that’s the end of that? Wrong!

After SpongeBob questions why Squidward kicked them out, Squidward finally snaps and yells at them telling them how awful he thinks they are, tells them to stop calling him president, and even smashes their fesses. Okay, I can understand why Squidward snapped considering how he did miss out on a pedicure just because the idiot brothers had to be stupid as usual.

After they idiot brothers leave, Squidward mopes over how he only has 3 hours left of his sweet Sunday now. You know you can have a night out right?

Squidward also stumbles upon the Sunday paper that SpongeBob tried to deliver earlier. After reading SpongeBob’s letter with the newspaper, Squidward just gets even angrier.

That is until he stumbles upon an ad for a security system to keep out intruders. Light bulb!

After wasting time installing the new security system, Squidward initially thinks that SpongeBob and Patrick won’t bother him. However, they still get in and they try to apologize to him for annoying him and even give him a cake. Aww, at least the idiot brothers knew they screwed up.

However since Squidward still refuses to forgive them for making him miss a pedicure, he tries to use the security system but it doesn’t work since the idiot brothers aren’t exactly threatening enough for it to care.

Squidward proceeds to beat the system up in frustration which makes it assume that Squidward’s intruding his own house and it electrocutes him.

To make things worse, SpongeBob accidentally drops the cake onto the security system which makes it malfunction and kick Squidward out of his own house.

The house even comes to life as a result of the malfunction security system and grows legs and walks away. That is one awful security system.

Despite losing his house, Squidward’s not very upset since at least he ain’t near the idiot brothers and decides to just pull up a rock and chillax. At least Squidward has me time now even if he is homeless.

Meanwhile, Squidward’s own house is terrorizing Bikini Bottom as the idiot brothers try to turn off the security system.

Soon, SpongeBob eventually finds the off button and turns off the security system. However, it ends up landing on Squidward trying to enjoy the remainder of his Sunday.

Rather than thank the idiot brothers for giving his house back, Squidward yells at them again and kicks them out while moping over how his Sunday’s now over and fully ruined (since his time relaxing on a rock meant squat).

However, things go from back to worse with Squidward when the townspeople show up very angry at Squidward since his house destroyed Bikini Bottom. As punishment, Squidward has to do community service for every Sunday for the rest of his life.

SpongeBob and Patrick also get charge with this too since they were inside the house and are happy that they get to spend more time with Squidward.

I’m just gonna assume that Squidward decided to just use his savings to pay for the damages or decided to go to jail to avoid the idiot brothers.

Review

Yep, Squidward’s torment here really is undeserved plus they really have a hard time on whether he should be sympathetic for his day being ruined or the villain for hating SpongeBob and Patrick. There were some good parts though like Squidward calling the idiot brothers out on being so dumb and some funny gags that save it from being too bad. It ain’t the start of the end yet though.
