Recap and Gifs

The episode starts off with Squidward celebrating the Krusty Krab closing while SpongeBob the workaholic is upset at ti as usual. What else is new?

However while crying over having to leave work, SpongeBob stumbles upon an old moldy krabby patty under the grill probably from the days from when Jim was the fry cook.

SpongeBob decides to the right thing and throw it away but an alarm ends up activating and picks the patty up.

Is nothing safe from the alarms in the Krusty Krab?

Mr. Krabs finds out and his system informs him that he just saved a nickel with that system. You’d think that sounds petty but this is the same guy that was willing to fire SpongeBob over a nickel so this is pretty tame.

Mr. Krabs tells SpongeBob to never make another patty until he can sell it to a customer which is easier said that done since the customers rightfully refuse to eat a moldy patty. I’m surprised no one called a health inspector.

Heck, had one of them been a health inspector, the Krsuty Krab would’ve closed down.

Weeks pass by without a single customer.

Mr. Krabs initially assumes the new place-mats are driving them away (since he’s too cheap to buy anything new) but Squidward rightfully points out that the lack of customers is because of Mr. Krabs trying to sell the old moldy patty which my now has gone so bad that it’s come to life and is very dog like.

Mr. Krabs really needs to have more common sense. I mean at this rate, Mr. Krabs is arguably losing more money saving that moldy patty than if he had just thrown it away.

Since no one will eat it and also wanting to save a nickel, Mr. Krabs decides to simply eat it himself.

Predictably, he ends up getting food poisoning after only one bite. At least no customers ate it. Mr. Krabs would be neck deep in lawsuits if that happened.

Mr. Krabs doesn’t appeared to have learned his lesson though since he asks SpongeBob to wrap up the rest of the moldy patty for him to eat later. When will he ever learn?

After getting his stomach pumped, Mr. Krabs seems fit as a fiddler crab. However when reading Mr. Krabs’ charts though, Dr. Gill Gilliam runs away in fear.

Geez, is Mr. Krabs gonna die or something?

Soon, the Flying Dutchman shows up to dispose of Mr. Krabs like some sort of a Grim Reaper. Well, that explains why Gil Gilliam ran away.

After trying and failing to avoid him by pretending to be Harold Flower, Flying Dutchman reveals that Mr. Krabs will be sent to Davy Jones’ (the singer not the pirate legend) locker for being so cheap that he would rather die than throw away an old patty.

Well, the Flying Dutchman does have a point at how cheap Mr. Krabs is.

Flying Dutchman takes Mr. Krabs to Davy Jones’ locker where it’s full of sweaty gym socks from his workouts (how else does the singer stay so fit).

Mr. Krabs finally breaks down crying over how he has the spend the rest of his life in a gym locker full of sweaty socks. Can’t blame the poor guy even if he is cheap.

Since he doesn’t want to listen to Mr. Krabs cry, the Flying Dutchman lets him off the hook and warms Mr. Krabs that he must be generous and not cheap if he ever wants to have a life outside a sweaty sock locker.

That’ll so be easier said than done.

Meanwhile without Mr. Krabs, the Krusty Krab’s out of business so Squidward’s taking whatever he can which is just some nose hair clippers since Mr. Krabs’ money is either being used on hospital bills, spent by Pearl, or locked up with Squidward unaware of the combination.

SpongeBob tries to stop Squidward from doing this but Squidward claims that the hospital told him about the Flying Dutchman taking Mr. Krabs to Davy Jones’ locker.

Luckily, Mr. Krabs returns before Squidward can raid his safe (so that was just saved for last) and announces that he’s a changed man and will be more generous from now on.

Surprisingly, Mr. Krabs turns out to live up to his promise of being generous giving out free kiddy toys, free refills, showcasing movies not even in theaters (probably bought the rights), converting his office into an employee lounge for Squidward to have as many breaks as he wants, and giving customers free patties. Whoa, Mr. Krabs is taking this very seriously.

At least Squidward’s happier.

However just because the customers are happy doesn’t mean everything is sunshine and rainbows.

Since Mr. Krabs is spending all his money on the new improvements and giving away free stuff, he can’t afford to pay his hospital bill. I smell a bankruptcy. At least we know why Mr. Krabs is so cheap.

SpongeBob and Squidward start to get worried, the latter mostly cause they won’t be able to get paid.

Mr. Krabs isn’t too bothered by this though since he assumes that everything after his food poisoning coma was just a dream. SpongeBob and Squidward get Mr. Krabs back to his senses by pointing out that it isn’t a dream and he really is bankrupt.

Mr. Krabs:

Since this really isn’t a dream, Mr. Krabs proceeds to take away every free thing he gave from toys to refills to even erasing Harold’s memory of the movie he watched since he apparently forgot that the Flying Dutchman part was real.

He even goes so far as to almost tear off Nathiel’s arm for a penny. Won’t be the first time he’s obsessed with a penny.

However Mr. Krabs’ relapse into cheapness means that he’s going to Davy Jones’ sweaty sock locker after all. So much for being generous.

Luckily, SpongeBob steps in and defend Mr. Krabs claiming that he’s a very generous man. To test this, the Flying Dutchman decides to let Mr. Krabs off the hook and have him choose between keeping SpongeBob’s soul or getting 62 cents.

Naturally, Mr. Krabs picks the latter so its’ off to the sweaty sock Davy Jones locker for SpongeBob.

Well, what’s he gonna do without a fry cook. He’ll be even more bankrupt.

Squidward (aka the guy who hates SpongeBob) proceeds to chew Mr. Krabs out for selling SpongeBob’s (aka the guy who tried to defend him) soul for 62 cents that won’t even matter in the long run.

Nice to see that even one of SpongeBob’s biggest haters can defend him.

Mr. Krabs takes this to heart and realizes how mean he was to SpongeBob. He even throws away his 62 cents and begs for SpongeBob back. Whoa, Squidward really got through to him.

The Flying Dutchman shows and returns SpongeBob not because of Mr. Krabs’ epiphany but because SpongeBob’s so annoying. I get the feeling he was annoying on purpose again just so the Flying Dutchman would let him go. It’s his strategy.

SpongeBob also forgives Mr. Krabs for selling his soul since it was for the Krusty Krab and those two and Squidward share a good laugh.

However, SpongeBob’s days for trolling the Flying Dutchman haven’t ended just yet since he’s trying to keep the scary guy away from him to avoid being in a sweaty sock Davy Jones locker forever.

Review

Amazing and I liked Squidward defending SpongeBob. Plus it gave a pretty good reason why Mr. Krabs is so cheap.
