SpongeBob Season 7 Episode 5a Keep Bikini Bottom Beautiful

Recap and Gifs

The episode starts off with Squidward being in a good mood to the point where he decides to take a walk around town. Heck, not even SpongeBob’s presence in greeting him can deter his bad mood. Man, did Squidward get his music accepted or something?

However, the universe will always find a way to make Squidward upset and it does so by putting some gum in his path where his good mood is soured by the old gum on the foot trick.

SpongeBob Season 7 Episode 5b A Pal for Gary

Now to the second of season 7’s infamous blunders.

Recap and Gifs

The episode starts off with SpongeBob preparing Gary’s usual round of breakfast and getting ready for work. When he finishes that up and prepares to leave, he runs into Gary with a leash. Interpreting this as Gary wanting to go for a walk, SpongeBob politely refuses since Mr. Krabs will never allow for a day off.

When the young sponge leaves though, Gary reveals that he was simply using the leash to get his soda drinking hat and some chips to chill and watch some of that good ole TV western. Well, looks like SpongeBob’s fears of Gary being sad, alone, and miserable are false now, not that SpongeBob will ever know since Gary’s keeping it a secret like toys keeping their sentience a secret in Toy Story.

SpongeBob Season 6 Episode 23-24 Truth or Square

How ironic? I’m reviewing the 10th anniversary special on the franchise’s 20th anniversary.

Recap and Gifs

The special starts off with Patchy’s mom dropping him off at Nickelodeon Studios since the crazy pirate wants to meet SpongeBob. Okay, I’m pretty sure he can’t meet SpongeBob unless he goes underwater since he’s probably still made up in Patchy’s universe.

When the security guard claims that SpongeBob isn’t there at the moment (mostly cause he’s busy with his 10th anniversary special), Patchy decides to simply set up camp outside the studio in hopes that he can join the celebration.

Initially, the security guard is prepared to throw Patchy out right on the spot but he ends up mistaking the crazy pirate for being part of the casting department and escorts the man to the waiting room which has a poster for the 2004 film and an old animation cell from the pilot. Well, Patchy at least gets to see the studio that created his favorite idol in the world.

SpongeBob Season 7 Episode 2b Stuck in the Wringer

Oh yes, onto the first of three of season 7’s biggest blunders according to fans.

Recap and Gifs

The episode starts off with SpongeBob showering like he does every common morning of the day. Heck, he even uses soap to clean his brain. Okay, that’s just very bizarre.

Our main plot gets started though when SpongeBob accidentally slips on some soap while getting dressed. Unlike what you’d expect, SpongeBob merely lands in the tub, not the wringer (which he uses to dry himself).

When trying to avoid that mistake again though, SpongeBob gets startled when he accidentally steps on a rubber duck and winds up slipping on the soap and getting (you guessed it) stuck in the wringer! Well, this’ll be an easy title to use as a recap ender.

SpongeBob Season 7 Episode 3a Someone’s in The Kitchen With Sandy

Recap and Gifs

The episode starts off with Plankton hiding inside a krabby patty bun so that he can sneak into the Krusty Krab and steal a krabby patty again.

This is foiled pretty quickly though when SpongeBob serves the bun with the krabby patty that he’s giving to Sandy.

What’s worse is that she has some sort of system now where she can easily unzip her suit and put the krabby patty inside it so that she can eat it without any trouble.Well, looks like Plankton’s dead with the lack of water and he sure has a disgusting sight to look at while he dies.

How is Sandy not seeing this? Is she that immersed in her food?

SpongeBob Season 6 Episode 16b To SquarePants or Not to SquarePants

Fun fact: This aired on the tenth anniversary of the official premiere of the show (May 1st was more of a sneak peek while July 17 was the real one).

Recap and Gifs

The episode starts off with the French Narrator describing to us the most horrifying thing ever to come in the show: SpongeBob losing his pants!

Puh-lease, Squidward becoming nice was more horrifying last season than this.

Anyway, the set up is that SpongeBob was doing laundry three days ago since it was cleaning day. Heck, he even took away Gary’s shell for cleaning. Wait, won’t it break in the washing machine? Eh, it’s a cartoon.

SpongeBob Season 6 Episode 25a Pineapple Fever

Recap and Gifs

The episode starts off with SpongeBob and Patrick preparing to go jellyfishing as part of their usual Sunday morning routine. Before they do so though, Patrick uncharacteristically suggests they check the weather report before going willy nilly into Jellyfish Fields.

Okay, did Patrick wake up on another side of the bed today cause that’s rather wise of him

When they check the weather report, it’s revealed that a horrible storm is coming so Patrick just saved them from suffering from a storm far away from home.

And now that we got that wise Patrick comment out of the way, our main plot starts.

SpongeBob Season 6 Episode 18a Pets or Pests

Recap and Gifs

The episode starts off with SpongeBob and Patrick playing a classic game of leap frog. However, SpongeBob’s unable to withstand Patrick’s weight and they both end up rolling down a hill onto a nest.

Those two really need to get insurance cause from the rate they’re going, they ain’t gonna last when they become senior citizens.

SpongeBob Season 6 Episode 5b Slide Whistle Stooges

Recap and Gifs

The episode starts off with Squidward doing his morning routine as usual. However, he begins to hear some odd sounds coming everytime he moves. Okay, what are the idiot neighbors up to now?

Of course, SpongeBob and Patrick are at it again. This time, they’re playing with slide whistles. When Squidward wonders how those things could be fun, SpongeBob and Patrick decide to show him by appearing in various areas of his house using slide whistles to indicate their movement.

Yeah, this episode doesn’t give me much snark at til the end so don’t expect a lot of my usual snark til then.

SpongeBob Season 6 Episode 17a Shuffleboarding

Recap and Gifs

The episode starts off with Mermaid Man and Barnacle Boy watching some TV like the semi-retired heroes they are. That is until SpongeBob and Patrick accidentally scare them when trying to surprise them.

Being the senile guy e is, Mermaid Man throws his legendary boomerang at them (mistaking them for supervillains). Luckily, SpongeBob manages to catch it before it goes out of hand.

When he tries to give it back to the old duo, he foolishly throws it at them but it ends up coming back to him instead. Dude if you knew how those things worked, you’d have tossed it the other way. All his attempts to give the boomerang do is continually hit Mermaid Man and Barnacle Boy.

Eventually, SpongeBob doesn’t catch it and now there’s a boomerang loose in the retirement home! Poor old folks, getting closer to the grim reaper cause of one idiot.

SpongeBob Season 6 Episode 14a Dear Vikings

My first review in a while (also RIP Stephen Hillenburg).

Recap and Gifs

The episode starts off with SpongeBob trying to engage in a conversation with Mr. Krabs (probably since he’s been getting amoral lately).

Mr. Krabs reveals that he’s introducing a new promotion (aka gimmick) to the Krusty Krab to boost business again. This time its new beverage cups (in regular, large, and the new viking size). I knew it wouldn’t be that impressive. Mr. Krabs is too cheap to do anything that fancy.

SpongeBob points out all the cups are the same size but Mr. Krabs don’t care since he’s that cheap. Eh, the townspeople in Bikini Bottom are idiots anyway. They won’t care.

Anyone who does have the viking cup gets to try on a viking helmet (a very crudely made one at that)!

All this talk about vikings gets SpongeBob curious on what they are. When Mr. Krabs fails to stop SpongeBob’s questions on vikings with vague answers, he dumps him off to Squidward. I feel ya Mr. Krabs.

SpongeBob Season 6 Episode 13b The Card

titlecard

Recap and Gifs

The episode starts off with SpongeBob withdrawing some money from the bank to buy some Mermaid Man and Barncale Boy trading cards. However, SpongeBob’s pretty picky on what the money’s like since he doesn’t want to give Mermaid Man a dirty dollar or a ripped one even though Mermaid Man wouldn’t care due to his senility. SpongeBob, just be grateful that you even have that amount of money at all with your small salary.

Soon everyone gets frustrated with SpongeBob holding up the line with his pettiness and they kick SpongeBob out of the bank. That was a waste of time.

SpongeBob then goes to the comic store to buy his Mermaid Man and Barnacle Boy trading cards. Patrick’s also there to buy a book on counting (mostly cause he finds numbers amusing somehow).

SpongeBob’s really happy with his trading cards mostly cause he can show off his geek knowledge on the Mermaid Man and Barnacle Boy TV show.

However since the cashier wants to be superior though, he claims that SpongeBob’s trading cards ain’t worth squat and shows off the Super Rare Platinum Animated Talking Card #54 which is so rare that only five exist.

Wanting to own such a rare card, SpongeBob spends all his money getting the trading cards until he can find the rare card. However, SpongeBob doesn’t have any luck on that and goes through all but one card pack with no luck.

Unsatisfied with his counting book, Patrick decides to buy the last trading cards in stock since he has no other ideas.

Believe it or not, Patrick actually managed to get the rare card! What an odd turn of events.

However, Patrick tries to use the card as some sort of a toothpick since he’s apparently a reckless idiot now. Geez, what happened to the goofball from earlier seasons. Heck, I though Patrick liked MM and BB.

SpongeBob rightfully tries to lecture Patrick on being more careful with the rare card but all Patrick hears is the same ol’ blah blahs. Patrick sure is pushing the envelope for idiocy here.

Since Patrick’s such a reckless guy, SpongeBob decides to strap the rare card on Patrick’s hand so that it can’t fall out of his hand and get messy.

Even then, Patrick still ends up in various situations where the card almost gets dirty from standing near the road where a car could splatter mud on him to randomly walking in Goo Lagoon.

When SpongeBob rightfully questions Patrick on his reckless behavior here, he states that “you can’t expect my usual brand of stupidity. I like to mix it up; keep you on your toes.” Okay, Patrick now just comes off as intentionally being reckless just to torture SpongeBob (his best friend mind you). Out of context, good line. In context, horrible line.

Literally after he says this, Patrick walks on a steel frame near a huge fire so SpongeBob’s forced to save him and the card with a crane. Patrick’s really going overkill on mixing it up.

After several offscreen mishaps, SpongeBob and Patrick reach the sea star’s rock. Noticing SpongeBob’s attachment to the thing, Patrick offers to give it to him which SpongeBob is more than happy at. However, Patrick still wants to keep the rare card for the rest of the day for some reason. I guess Patrick really wants to prolong SpongeBob’s suffering now.

SpongeBob still obliges by this since he’s such a nice guy.

Patrick then proceeds to do some reckless damage on the card by opening his rock with the card (bending it the process) since he doesn’t believe in locksmiths, uses the card to clean his grill (ripping a part of the top off in the process), using it to start a fire and spitting on the card to put it out, flips patties with it (Patrick ain’t a half bad cook), uses it as a tray for the patties (splattering some grease on it), and finally, uses it as a napkin (further staining it). Geez Patrick, how low are you trying to sink?

When the day finally ends and SpongeBob gets the rare card, the card disintegrates from all that damage much to SpongeBob’s dismay. Poor guy. He just wanted a card but his so called best friend pretty much ruined it (possibly on purpose).

Since he doesn’t want SpongeBob to resent him, Patrick reveals to SpongeBob that he actually bought a whole pack of those rare cards so they ain’t extinct. Heck, he even gives them to SpongeBob! Okay, maybe he ain’t completely bad.

However, Patrick still wants to borrow one from SpongeBob since he’s locked out of his house again. Okay, I take it back. He probably wants to make SpongeBob more miserable by destroying the other cards with his recklessness.

At least SpongeBob owned the card for some time.

Review

Very awful indeed. Patrick’s horrible here and the episode itself is just so dull and boring. Heck, they could’ve salvaged it all with Patrick giving all his cards to SpongeBob as a heartwarming ending but they had to ruin it with Patrick “borrowing” one again! Worst Patrick episode so far.

Score out of Ten: 4/10

SpongeBob Season 6 Episode 7a Giant Squidward

titlecard

Recap and Gifs

The episode starts off with Squidward tending to his kelp plants (that are wilting since they’re in the yard of a unlucky guy like him) by spraying some of his kelp grow spray on them. That is until SpongeBob and Patrick show up wanting to do good deeds. Patrick assumes that Squidward wants his kelp trimmed and eats some before Squidward has him stop. Is this gonna end up like Good Neighbors?

Squidward tries to get his revenge by spraying his kelp grow on Patrick’s ice cream but that just makes him even happier since now he and SpongeBob can share it. Well, TBF I’d be happy too if Squidward did that (dangerous chemicals aside).

SpongeBob Season 6 Episode 4b Gone

Recap and Gifs

The episode starts off with SpongeBob waking up and doing his usual routine of feeding Gary, annoying Squidward, talking with Patrick, and working at the Krusty Krab. However, it would seem as if everyone in town’s vanished since SpongeBob doesn’t directly talk to everyone. While he’s initially oblivious to this since he thinks that everyone’s just sleeping, SpongeBob gets suspicious at night and promptly looks in everyone’s houses and finds out that everyone’s missing including his friends. Whatever could’ve happened to them?

SpongeBob Season 5 Episode 12 Atlantis SquarePantis

Yep, after tons of episodes, we’ve finally reached SpongeBob’s first ever TV movie! Let’s see if it’s any good.

File:Atlantis SquarePantis.jpg

Recap and Gifs

The episode starts off with Patchy being stuck in traffic in his boat (more reason that he’s a mad man). Summer rush much?

What makes it worse is that a new episode of SpongeBob is on and Potty’s being a jerk as usual. Eventually, Patchy ends up getting lost and accidentally strands himself in a dessert. For a pirate, he sure has a lousy sense of direction.

Since he’s lost, Patchy decides to introduce us to the special.

SpongeBob Season 5 Episode 3c Fungus Among Us

titlecard

Recap and Gifs

The episode starts off with Gary waking up SpongeBob since he’s hungry. Geez, with the amount of times that SpongeBob’s forgotten to feed him, you’d think that Gary would’ve been trained to feed himself.

However, Gary’s not very happy with his snail food today since it’s the terrible tasting organic kind this time. Who makes that slop?

Recap and Gifs

The episode starts off with a fat customer ordering a monster patty (which hasn’t been ordered in ages). What was wrong with the monster patties?

When Squidward tells SpongeBob the order though, he (SpongeBob) and everyone at the Krusty Krab that isn’t Squidward (since he’s too cynical to care) is in shock.

The monster krabby patty turns out to be a giant hunk of krabby patty meat. SpongeBob sets the plot off when while trying to flip the giant hunk of meat, he breaks his spatula.
